Fifa Confirms World Cup Club Release Rules
FIFA has officially set May 25, 2026 as the mandatory release date for players joining their national teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The date falls just one day after the final round of club fixtures for most competitions, ensuring players are released immediately after their last club match of the season.
However, FIFA has also introduced flexibility for players involved in major continental finals, allowing them to report to their national teams as late as May 30, 2026, subject to approval.
The decision is aimed at balancing club commitments with international preparations, especially given the congested end-of-season calendar across Europe and other leagues.
National teams will now have a clearer window to begin final preparations, while clubs are expected to release players in line with the new regulations.
A tighter schedul and a crucial countdown to the World Cup begins.
