Senegal has once again demonstrated its commitment to youth development, with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye approving substantial reward packages for the country’s U-17 and U-15 national football teams.
The initiative, which combines financial incentives, education support, healthcare coverage, and technology, highlights the government’s determination to nurture the next generation of Senegalese talent both on and off the pitch.
A Reward Beyond Football
Rather than offering cash bonuses alone, the Senegalese government has introduced a comprehensive package designed to support the long-term growth and well-being of its young athletes.
Every player in both squads will receive:
- An 11th-generation iPad
- A comprehensive two-year health insurance policy
- A 24-month academic or vocational training scholarship
- An individual cash bonus
The technical staff attached to both teams will also benefit from direct financial bonuses and 11th-generation iPads in recognition of their contribution to the players’ development.
U-17 Team Receives Major Allocation
The U-17 national team has been awarded a total package worth 174.52 million FCFA, equivalent to approximately $287,000 USD.
The reward recognizes the team’s efforts and achievements while encouraging the players to continue pursuing excellence in both education and sport.
U-15 Team Also Honoured
Senegal’s U-15 squad has likewise been rewarded with a package valued at 136.90 million FCFA, approximately $225,000 USD.
By extending the initiative to younger players, the government is sending a clear message that talent development begins early and deserves sustained support.
