Ghana Star Antoine Semenyo Nominated For Premier League Player Of The Season
Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the 2025/26 Premier League Player of the Season award — one of two Manchester City players on the shortlist alongside teammate Erling Haaland.
The Premier League has announced eight nominees for the award, which will be determined by both a fan vote and a panel of football experts, with the winner to be announced next week.
A Season Across Two Clubs
Semenyo began the campaign at Bournemouth, contributing 13 goal involvements in 20 appearances before making the move to Manchester City in January. He wasted no time settling in at the Etihad, netting in five of his first eight league appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side. His combined tally for the season stands at 16 goals and four assists.
No player has been involved in more goals following a ball carry than Semenyo in the Premier League this season, with seven such involvements — a testament to his direct, pace-driven style of play.
Historic Potential
Should he win, Semenyo would be only the second player in history to claim the Player of the Season award while representing two different clubs in the same season — a feat previously achieved only by Dwight Yorke in 1998/99.
The Competition
Arsenal lead the nominations with three players — David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice — all recognized for their roles in Mikel Arteta’s title-challenging side.
An incredible rise for a player who not long ago was lighting up Bournemouth. Ghana should be immensely proud.
