FSV Mainz 05 Complete Free Transfer Signing of Ghanaian Forward Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer
FSV Mainz 05 have bolstered their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season, completing the signing of Ghana international Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer on a free transfer from Hamburger SV.
The 24-year-old joins on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Hamburger SV and is set to officially link up with his new teammates on July 1, 2026.
The Berlin-born forward arrives at the MEWA Arena with an impressive track record in German football. He made 33 Bundesliga appearances last season and scored five goals for HSV, having helped the club secure promotion and maintain their place in the top flight. Across spells with Hamburger SV and Dynamo Dresden, he has featured in 130 matches in the 2. Bundesliga and scored 29 goals.
Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert was full of praise for the club’s new recruit. “Ransford Königsdörffer is a quick, physical forward whose style of play will fit our attack very well. He has been on the pitch in almost every competitive game over the past few seasons and has developed into a Bundesliga regular. At 24, Ransford is at an excellent age and we’re very pleased that we were able to convince him to take the next steps in his career with us at Mainz 05,” Bungert said.
The player himself is clearly excited by the move. “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge here in Mainz. The coach and sporting directors clearly outlined their plans to me during our discussions, and that was very convincing,” he said.
Königsdörffer, who represents Ghana at international level despite being born in Germany, is expected to add pace, physicality and directness to Mainz’s frontline as the club targets a strong campaign in the upcoming Bundesliga season.
