According to multiple Spanish media outlets, RB Leipzig signed the Argentine as their new head coach after making a concrete offer to the 45-year-old, which he accepted.
According to Radio Marca Baleares, all that remains is the official confirmation from the clubs involved — an agreement between Demichelis and Leipzig is fully in place.
In an almost comical twist, Mallorca themselves only learned of the Demichelis decision through a statement made by a Marca reporter on a radio show — the club found out from the media.
The Release Clause That Made It Happen
Demichelis had only recently signed a contract extension with the relegated La Liga side until June 2028. However, a release clause in that freshly signed deal allows him to exit — and Leipzig have triggered it.
