Gianni Infantino Jokes About $2m World Cup Tickets Amid Resale Concerns
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sparked reactions online after joking about the outrageous prices some World Cup tickets are reportedly being resold for on secondary markets.
Speaking on the growing issue of ticket resales, Infantino humorously said:
“If someone buys a World Cup ticket for $2 million, I will personally deliver him a Coke and a hot dog to make sure he has a great experience.”
The FIFA president was addressing concerns surrounding ticket scalping and inflated resale prices ahead of future FIFA tournaments, especially with demand expected to hit record levels for the upcoming World Cup.
Infantino also made it clear that just because tickets are being listed for massive amounts online does not mean they are actually worth those prices.
“Just because people resell them for that price, doesn’t mean it will be worth it,” he added.
