Guardiola was delighted to pick up three points at Nottingham Forest following a 2-0 win at the City Ground.

The result kept fate ‘in our hands’ as the title will return to the Etihad for a fourth successive season if we now win our final quartet of games against Wolves, Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham.

That appetising finale to the season is still far away, according to boss Guardiola.

“With four games left, it’s like climbing a mountain,” said the boss.

“They are very tough games. The only thing is still we extend for one more week it’s in our hands.

“If we draw a game, we are not going to win the Premier League. It is what it is.

“We extend this in a difficult game. Now rest a little bit and prepare the next game.”

The boss admitted today’s clash with the Reds was a ‘dangerous’ one but he was happy with the ‘character and personality’ on show by his Blues.

“Today was dangerous,” admitted the boss.

“With the amount of games we have, I knew it would be like that.

“The players respond well. You judge the results but today was not the performance.

“They are good and are playing to be in the Premier League. They have incredible pace with Aina, Hudson-Odoi, Elanga, I was impressed with their physicality.

“Now you will make compliments about us. You want to read newspapers after the game last season when we played here. We played 1000 times better.

“This season we were closer to drawing than last season but today is how we show character and personality. Last season was much better.”

The only negative on an otherwise positive afternoon was the shoulder injury to Ederson.

Guardiola said he would know more about the goalkeeper’s fitness tomorrow but revealed it ‘doesn’t look good’.
