The Offer Of 45 Million To Lure Jan Oblak Out Of Atlético De Madrid

Manchester United are making significant strides in their efforts to bolster their goalkeeping department, with reports suggesting that they have set their sights on Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak. The Red Devils are well aware of the challenges faced by André Onana and are seriously considering the possibility of replacing the Cameroonian goalkeeper, who was signed just last summer.

Onana, who arrived from Inter Milan as a replacement for David de Gea, has encountered difficulties in adapting to his new surroundings, conceding 47 goals in 30 appearances and managing only nine clean sheets. Despite having a contract until 2028, rumors persist about his future at Old Trafford.

In light of this, the prospect of acquiring Jan Oblak, the experienced Slovenian goalkeeper from Atlético Madrid, has emerged. According to TodoFichajes, Manchester United are preparing a €45 million bid for Oblak, who has long been a target of interest for the Red Devils.

Oblak, 31, has been a stalwart for Atlético since his arrival in 2014, accumulating 422 appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets last season. Although he is tied down with a contract until 2028, Atlético would be open to letting him go for the right offer in the upcoming transfer market.

This potential acquisition is part of Manchester United’s plans for squad rejuvenation in the next season. Alongside bolstering their goalkeeping options, the club is also eyeing a new center-back, central midfielder, and center-forward as they undergo a rebuild under minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Improving the team is a top priority for the Red Devils as they aim to enhance their squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
