Carletto Is Staying. Brazil Lock In Ancelotti Until 2030
Two world cups. one man. the seleção’s long-term vision just became crystal clear.
On Thursday, May 14, the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) released an official statement announcing a four-year extension for Carlo Ancelotti. While the tactician turns 67 next month, the Brazilian Federation needed little convincing — they’ve seen enough.
The man himself said it best. “I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the first minute, I understood what football means to this country. We have been working to bring the Brazilian National Team back to the top of the world. But the CBF and I want more. More victories, more time, more work. We will go together until the 2030 World Cup. Thank you, Brazil, for the warm welcome and for all the affection.”
The Numbers so far
In his first year with the national team, Ancelotti has coached ten matches — and Brazil scored 18 goals while conceding just eight during that stretch. Not exactly a bonfire of brilliance, but the foundation is being laid.
What’s next — Immediately
The announcement comes just days before Ancelotti reveals his Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup on Monday. Brazil’s opening World Cup match is against Morocco on June 13 in New Jersey.
And yes — a preliminary list of 55 players has already been submitted to FIFA, with Neymar’s inclusion among the most closely watched names on the longlist. Ancelotti has been unambiguous in stating that fitness will be the deciding factor for every player, Neymar included.
Why this is a massive deal
Ancelotti is the only coach in history to have won all five of the big European league titles — at Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. And now Brazil want him to add the one trophy that has eluded the Seleção since 2002.
CBF president Samir Xaud called it “a historic day” for Brazilian football. “The renewal of Carlo Ancelotti’s contract represents another firm step in our commitment to offering the five-time world champion national team an increasingly strong, modern and competitive structure,” he said.
The bigger picture
This deal does more than extend a contract — it sends a message. Brazil aren’t building for one tournament. They’re building a dynasty. With Ancelotti’s experience, Brazil’s staggering pool of young talent, and the 2030 World Cup partly hosted on South American soil, the stars could literally align.
This also effectively ends any remaining hopes Italy had of luring Ancelotti back to manage the Azzurri. He’s all in. He’s Brazilian now.
Carletto. the seleção. until 2030. handle it.
