The Saudi Football Federation’s disciplinary and ethics committee announced on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for one match due to an obscene gesture he made during Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab. The committee emphasized that this decision cannot be appealed.

After the match on Sunday, Ronaldo repeatedly made a hand gesture near his pelvis area, seemingly directed towards the rival Al-Shabab supporters. In the background, chants of “Messi,” Ronaldo’s long-time rival, could be heard. A fan captured the gesture on camera, and it quickly went viral on social media.

In addition to the suspension, Ronaldo will be required to pay a fine of 20,000 Saudi riyals ($5,333) to Al-Shabab and 10,000 Saudi riyals ($2,666) to the Saudi Football Federation.

Despite this incident, Ronaldo has been performing exceptionally well for Al Nassr, leading the league with 22 goals in 20 games this season. He even scored a penalty in the first half against Al-Shabab before the incident occurred.

This is not the first time Ronaldo has faced criticism for his on-field behavior in Saudi Arabia. Last April, he responded to fans taunting him with “Messi” chants by making an obscene gesture during a Saudi league game.

Al-Nassr’s upcoming match is scheduled for Thursday against Al-Hazm.
