Help with Money

Full financial need, up to the scholarship maximum, will be covered.

No matter a student’s nationality or immigration status, they are eligible to receive a need-based grant from Yale’s Financial Aid program. You can choose between a Yale Scholarship, an entitlement award, or an external scholarship as part of this two-part program. There is also the option of a Student Share, which is money contributed by the student from term or summer employment.

All qualified students from all socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Students from families with annual incomes of less than $65,000 receive priority for Yale University scholarships. The median award for this category is $70,686, and 100% of eligible candidates get some form of financial help.

Additionally, 99 percent of those in the $65,000-$100,000 and $100,000-$150,000 income ranges who apply for help are approved for it.

If an international student receives an offer of financial aid but must delay enrollment for any reason, they are not required to reapply once they are ready to enroll.

The amount of each scholarship varies from year to year, ranging from a few hundred to seventy thousand dollars ($50,000 on average).
In cases of financial necessity, Yale offers merit-based scholarships that do not need payback. The Financial Aid letter is how students who get this scholarship find out about it.

Grants for College Seniors
Help in Paying for Graduate School
Money awarded is based on each student’s individual financial situation.
Yale provides financial aid to Master’s degree students in its graduate and professional schools in order to fulfill its commitment to making a Yale education affordable to students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and countries.

Grants are renewable for students with demonstrated financial need, provided there has been no significant change in their financial situation since they first applied.

This Master’s degree grant from Yale University varies from institution to institution. Individual Resource Scholarships may be awarded to deserving MA Architecture students, for instance. Candidates who do not have access to or choose not to disclose their parents’ financial information may take advantage of this option.

The Family Resource Scholarship is another possibility; it’s given to students who document financial hardship within their families. This usually comes with a heftier sum, too, if the student’s family is shown to be in financial need.

The International Student Financial Aid Application and the Parent Financial Statement are required paperwork.

Obtaining a Grant from Yale University
Minimum funding required for a five-year scholarship
All students applying to the Doctor of Philosophy degree in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are eligible for this grant. This Yale University award is given out based on merit and references provided by the relevant departments.

While a teaching fellowship or research assistantship is more commonly awarded in subsequent years of doctoral study, Yale University awards fellowships to first- and second-year students alone.

This fellowship not only pays for the student’s tuition, but also provides Yale’s standard medical insurance. Some people may be qualified to receive a Health Award, which pays for medical expenses including doctor visits and medicine.

All Yale University fellows are prohibited from accepting any additional fellowship funding.
