West Ham United will face fellow Premier League outfit Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup following a 2-0 victory over Derby County at Pride Park.
After losing only one of their previous 13 FA Cup matches played on a Monday, West Ham should have been ahead after nine minutes, only for Jarrod Bowen to take on the shot himself instead of playing in strike-partner Michail Antonio, who had found himself in acres of space in the area.
However, Bowen redeemed himself less than 60 seconds later, as the England international culminated an exquisite Hammers team move with a clinical strike from close-range to give his side the lead.
Meeting in their first H2H encounter since Derby County’s 2-1 victory during the 2010/11 Championship campaign, West Ham doubled their advantage in the opening stages of the second half as Antonio headed in Bowen’s pin-point cross at the back post.
West Ham will now grace the fifth round of the FA Cup for the third successive season as Moyes’s side now prepare for the excursion to face Erik ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford towards the end of the next month.
