Manchester City were looking to bounce back in the Premier League after their disappointing draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Also a win was very much needed as earlier on in the day Arsenal had beaten Leicester City to extend their league at the top of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side were the overwhelming favourites against Bournemouth as The Cherries are one of the team trying not to go down and that showed in the first half as within 20 minutes City went one up thanks to Julian Alvarez.
Shortly after Erling Haaland doubled the lead silencing any doubters after a couple of tricky games for his 27th goal of the league season, bettering Sergio Aguero’s greatest goal scoring campaign in the Premier League.
It was a swift move by the Premier League Champions which saw Ilkay Gundogan run in-behind into space before crossing into Phil Foden who inadvertently found Haaland.
The Norwegian had the easiest of tasks as all’s he needed to do was to tap the ball home as he was unmarked in the penalty area.
Record in his sights… 👀🔥
