Valencia CF sporting director Miguel Ángel Corona recently revealed that during the last summer market, they received several offers for Mouctar Diakhaby, Thierry Correia, and Giorgi Mamardashvili, but decided to reject them in an effort to support their current squad. This statement comes after a difficult transfer market for the Valencian club, which has left fans questioning the direction and investment in the team.
Corona explained that although the offers were tempting, they decided to keep these key players as part of their long-term strategy to strengthen the team. “It is important to show confidence in our players and in the project we are building,” he stated. “We believe they have great potential and we want to continue betting on them.”
Words that make Valencianism’s blood boil
These words come at a time of growing frustration among Valencia fans, as the club failed to meet the reinforcement needs identified by coach Rubén Baraja during the summer transfer window. Lack of investment has been a recurring theme, with owner Peter Lim receiving criticism for blocking operations and not injecting capital into the team.
Corona, however, defended the club’s position by stating that rejecting the offers was also a way of investing in the squad. “Our priority is long-term success, and sometimes that means making difficult decisions,” he said. “We are committed to building a strong and competitive Valencia.”
