Chelsea’s transfer business this month has made waves in the world of football, with six new players having already joined the club since the window opened on January 1.
The arrivals have seen Todd Boehly catch attention around the Premier League, with spending topping £151.5million for the window so far following the latest move for 20-year-old winger Noni Madueke for £35m on a seven-and-a-half year contract.
Chelsea have also added Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos this month.
However, with Graham Potter’s squad now having lots of big names within it, there will be concerns about the dynamic of the squad going forwards and this could mean some big name players could leave the club in the coming weeks and months.
Hakim Ziyech
Since joining Chelsea in 2020, the former Ajax winger has never been able to establish himself as first choice. Despite some great performances, he has always played second fiddle, and the addition of Madueke suggests that the Moroccan may be leaving.
There will be no shortage of teams interested in signing a player with Champions League credentials, with AC Milan reported to be among them.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
The Chelsea academy graduate, who turned 27 on Monday, has always been a safe option under numerous managers at Stamford Bridge. However, with the present need to rebuild the team and a likely trade for Moises Caicedo, the England international may be ready to depart.
He has not played since the World Cup break, and with players like Denis Zakaria coming through the pecking order ahead of him, it may be time to call it quits for a player who may only have a few years remaining to reach the big things that have been projected for him.
Conor Gallagher
Gallagher, another Cobham academy graduate who might be a victim of Chelsea’s bloated roster, has started nine Premier League games this season, including the past two.
However, with Newcastle and Crystal Palace also interested in the England international, Chelsea may decide to cash in on the 22-year-old in order to balance the books following some significant investment.
