Once the transfer market has closed, FC Barcelona does not stop in its search to strengthen its squad for the future. One of the most worrying positions at Camp Nou is the midfielder, where currently only Oriol Romeu has as a first-team player. However, in the ranks of Barça Atlètic, Marc Casadó is gaining prominence and promises fierce competition in that position.
According to the newspaper Sport, two names have emerged on the options table and could arrive at the club as free agents in the winter market: Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Joshua Guilavogui. Gbamin, 27, has come through the youth ranks of the French national team and is now eligible for the Ivorian national team. After three seasons at Mainz and four at Everton, the last of which was on loan at Trabzonspor, he is looking for a new start at Barça.
On the other hand, Joshua Guilavogui is a familiar name in La Liga, having played for Atlético de Madrid during the 2013/14 season, when the colchonero team was crowned champion. Since then, he has built his career at Wolfsburg, with a brief loan spell at Bordeaux. His experience in the Spanish league could be a valuable asset for Barcelona.
They also have two young people who are emerging in Portugal
However, the aforementioned newspaper reveals that Barcelona’s sports management is also closely following two young Portuguese talents, Joao Neves and Dário Essugo, both bets recommended by former player Deco. Although their arrivals are not contemplated for this winter transfer market due to contractual conditions, both players promise a bright future.
Joao Neves, about to turn 19 and with a contract until 2028, has developed in Benfica’s youth categories and made his debut with the first team last season. On the other hand, Dário Essugo, a year younger than Neves, is a talented Sporting de Portugal player with a contract that binds him to the Portuguese club until 2025.
