After Dylan turned electric in 1965, the Hawks began accompanying him. In 1967, the band’s name was changed to just The Band.
He is best known as Bob Dylan’s lead guitarist in the mid-late 1960s and early-mid 1970s; as a guitarist and composer with the Band from its inception until 1978; and as a solo recording artist.
Robertson’s contribution to the establishment of the Americana music genre was essential. He’s written a lot of songs as a solo artist and with the band.
With the band, he co-wrote The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, and Up on Cripple Creek, and had solo hits with Broken Arrow and Somewhere Down the Crazy River, among others.
Robertson was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the National Academy of Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as a member of the Band, and he was honored into Canada’s Walk of Fame both with the Band and alone.
Robertson is best known as a cinematic soundtrack producer and composer for his work with filmmaker Martin Scorsese in film and television, beginning with the rockumentary film The Last Waltz.
They worked on films such as Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Casino, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Irishman, and Killers of the Flower Moon. He also contributed to countless more film and television soundtracks.

“Robbie was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, including his wife, Janet, ex-wife, Dominique, her partner Nicholas, and his children Alexandra, Sebastian, Delphine, and Delphine’s partner Kenny,” his family added.
His grandchildren are Angelica, Donovan, Dominic, Gabriel, and Seraphina.” In lieu of flowers, the family requested that money be contributed to the Six Nations of the Grand River to “support a new Woodland Cultural Centre.”
