Chelsea face Leeds United tomorrow in a game that could well and truly decide Graham Potter’s future, or at least give him a bit of hope.
A defeat would surely see the English manager sacked and with Chelsea having some key names out it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they do fall to defeat against Leeds.
Thomas Tuchel was sacked after a 3-0 defeat to Leeds back in September.
According to Jacob Steinberg, the Chelsea board fear it will be difficult to get behind Graham Potter in the event of a defeat against Leeds.
The board would love Potter to turn it around and are willing to give him that opportunity if he can come through games against Leeds and Borussia Dortmund with a victory.
A defeat against Leeds however would surely signal the end, and it would be a bittersweet moment for Potter being sacked after losing to the same team his predecessor was sacked after.
Chelsea are without Reece James and Mason Mount and face a Leeds team looking to fight their way to safety under new manager Javi Gracia.
Alternative coaches are starting to be identified, but Chelsea are yet to contact any manager about the possibility of taking over in the event of a sacking.
