Barcelona are keeping tabs on the availability of Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
The 33-year-old forward left the La Liga giants in the summer to help the club balance their wage bill during their ongoing financial issues.
But Aubameyang has fallen completely out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Graham Potter this season and is set to leave at the end of the season.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (24 March) that Chelsea are planning to terminate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract at the end of this season.
The Gabon international only has a year remaining on his contract with the Blues, but Chelsea are eager to remove his £300,000-per-week pay off the club’s wage bill in order to boost their summer budget.
Saudi-Arabian clubs have already registered interest in Aubameyang ahead of the summer window, but Barcelona remain interested in bringing him back to Camp Nou. Aubameyang scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for the Catalan side during his stay in Spain, and he has retained a good relationship with the club after his exit.
As per The Mirror, Aubameyang was spotted in the Barcelona dressing room celebrating with his former teammates last week following their El Clasico victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid.
It is understood that Barcelona and manager Xavi would be interested in Aubameyang’s return this summer, but only if they can avoid a transfer fee and sign him as a free agent.
