Real Madrid is getting closer to securing the signing of Alphonso Davies, the talented Canadian full-back. The white club has established the 23-year-old player as its main target to reinforce the left-back position for next season. The first contacts with Davies’ representative have already been made, indicating a real interest on the part of Real Madrid in signing the young talent.
On the other hand, at Bayern Munich, the situation is quite different. According to the newspaper AS, Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, has maintained a prolonged silence with the German club’s board, which has complicated talks about renewing the player’s contract until 2025. According to reports from the German newspaper Bild, Huoseh’s relationship with Bayern has cooled considerably due to his behavior and public statements regarding Davies’ possible moves to other clubs.
Huoseh, a close friend of the Davies family, fueled rumors about a possible departure for the player this summer by mentioning that there were several clubs interested in him, including Real Madrid. This did not go down well at Bayern Munich, where Davies was expected to sign a renewal before the dismissal of Hasan Salihamidzic, the club’s former sporting director.
Tug of war with the player
Bayern now faces a dilemma as Davies is willing to negotiate a contract extension only if the club makes him one of the highest-paid players. His current salary is around 7 million euros per season, a figure that some players with similar importance in the team exceed. However, Bayern does not rule out the possibility of selling Davies next summer for a figure close to €50 million, knowing that the player could leave for free in 2025 if he does not renew his contract.
