Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) seems determined to prepare for the possible departure of Kylian Mbappé at the end of the season, and its star target is Florian Wirtz, the young star of Bayer Leverkusen. At 20 years old, Wirtz has become one of the main architects of the outstanding season that the German team is having under the direction of Xavi Alonso.
The German international is in the sights of elite clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City, but at the moment, PSG would be leading the race for his services. Although the high price set by Leverkusen could have deterred other teams, it seems that the Parisians are not willing to take a step back in their attempt to sign the young talent.
PSG enters the race for Florian Wirtz
According to information from Todo Fichajes, PSG has begun to establish contacts with Wirtz’s representatives to find out his willingness to a possible transfer. Luis Enrique, the current coach of the Parisian team, sees the German as an ideal signing to reinforce the midfield in his 4-3-3 game scheme.
However, any move regarding Wirtz will not happen before the end of the season, as there are several months ahead in which anything can happen.
Florian Wirtz’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires in the summer of 2027, and his transfer fee is estimated to be around €90 million. This season, the young German talent has demonstrated his versatility and quality with three goals and three assists in the ranks of Leverkusen under the direction of Xabi Alonso.
Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City are also closely monitoring Wirtz’s situation and have shown interest in his signing. With uncertainty surrounding Mbappé’s future, PSG is taking steps to secure a possible top-level replacement in the form of Florian Wirtz.
