Paris Saint-Germain will aim to overcome a lackluster start to the season as they prepare to host Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
This season has seen PSG experience one of their worst beginnings under Qatari ownership, currently sitting in third place in the Ligue 1 standings after the international break.
Manager Enrique may not have been pleased to witness star player Kylian Mbappe feature in France’s friendly against Scotland on Tuesday, but fortunately, the forward emerged unharmed.
Mbappe’s impressive tally of seven goals currently places him at the top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts, and his outstanding performance with Les Bleus against the Netherlands last week secured France’s qualification for the upcoming summer tournament in Germany.
Unfortunately, Enrique will have to navigate the upcoming match without the presence of Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, Layvin Kurzawa, and Randal Kolo Muani. These players have all received one-game suspensions due to their involvement in offensive chanting directed towards Marseille fans following PSG’s 4-0 victory last month.
The absence of Dembele and Kurzawa, in particular, raises concerns, especially considering that Nuno Mendes and Marco Asensio are currently sidelined with injuries.
On the other hand, Strasbourg will be missing Emanuel Emegha due to a muscle strain, as well as Polish full-back Karol Fila, who is in the process of recovering from an ACL injury.
During the international break, Vieira provided an opportunity for some fringe players to showcase their skills in a friendly match against Karlsruhe. However, following their 3-0 defeat, it is unlikely that any of these players will be given a chance to prove themselves in Paris.
