Newcastle United will reportedly look to sign Spanish wide defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Marc Cucurella is the subject of interest from Newcastle United.
The Spaniard has not justified the outlay of £60 million on him from last summer.
But the Magpies view the Chelsea wide man as a long-term left-back solution.
Marc Cucurella has endured a topsy-turvy ride since arriving in England two years ago.
The 24-year-old joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Getafe in August 2021 and enjoyed an incredible debut season with the Seagulls.
In addition, Chelsea prised him away from Brighton last summer.
The West London club shelled out £60 million to secure Cucurella’s services last summer.
At Newcastle United, Eddie Howe used Dan Burn as his first-choice left-back this past season.
But Howe wants a full-back better suited to his demands, compelling the Tyneside club to scour the market.
And while the Arsenal defender will be a much better option, Cucurella has also emerged as a viable target.
Newcastle United will look to secure a cut-price deal to land the Chelsea wide man.
Meanwhile, the Blues are ready to part ways with the 24-year-old.
But Chelsea will unlikely recoup anything close to the £60 million they paid to land the Spaniard.
And if Cucurella rediscovers his Brighton form at St. James’ Park, Newcastle United will have secured a bargain.
And it will be interesting to see if Cucurella arrives from Chelsea to bolster the Newcastle United squad this summer.
