While the 32-year-old’s contract at the club runs out in the summer, there is an option to extend it by 12 months.
De Gea is expected to stay at the club for at least another season.
Irrespective of that Ten Hag is keen on having another shot-stopper at his disposal.
He wants to have competition for the number-one spot and believes adding Costa to the mix will bring out the best in both players.
And, in the long run, the 23-year-old can cement himself as the number one for the Red Devils.
