Manchester United are “already negotiating” a transfer for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, according to reports in Spain.
The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux in the last 12 months and while his contract is set to run into its final year this summer, he is widely tipped to depart.
The report adds that Neves is “already negotiating what could be his transfer to United starting next summer”.
Erik ten Hag wants to bolster his midfield despite Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Marcel Sabitzer all joining the club over the past 12 months.
A move for Neves appears to have traction given that there is an acceptance at Wolves that their star man could be playing his final games for the club this term, as Julen Lopetegui’s side scrap for survival at the foot of the Premier League table.
Neves has spent six years with Wolves after joining his former Porto manager Nuno Espirito Santo to the club.
He has made a total of 245 appearances for Wolves since joining back in 2017 from FC Porto, but as he enters the final year of his contract, clubs are looking at the possibility of snapping him up when the Premier League season ends.
The Mirror claim that the Portuguese is rated at £50million after being linked to a number of top clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Barcelona appear to have dropped their interest given the number of problems that the Spanish giants must sort out before thinking of adding quality players to their ranks this summer.
