Manchester City in the just ended 2022/23 season made history by equaling their rivals, Manchester united record in winning the treble. However, the club has made their first signing in the transfer window.
Manchester city expressed interest and opened contract talks with the Croatian and Chelsea FC central midfielder, Mateo Kovacic in the past few weeks. The twenty-nine year old agreed on personal terms last two weeks ago. The negotiations progressed positively.
Mateo Kovacic initially joined Chelsea FC on a loan deal from Real Madrid FC in the 2019/20 season before inking a permanent five years contract. In the 2022/23 season, Mateo mad twenty-seven appearances for Chelsea in the league,scored a goal and gave two assist. He also played an integral part in Chelsea FC UEFA champions league campaign were he made eight appearances and gave an assist as well.
Mateo Kovacić is now ready to join Manchester City from Chelsea FC. Negotiations have been reached between both clubs for a transfer fee of £30million. The fee has been partitioned in an initial £25million payment plus a £5million later on.
Mateo Kovacic has been given a long term contract and his Medicals would be made in the next few days. His deal would be signed and announced officially in the next few days.
