Manchester City are expecting to have a slight rebuild of their squad this upcoming summer with the midfield set to be the focus as they are set to lose one of their key players at the end of this campaign.
Jude Bellingham is a key target in the summer but the Premier League Champions understand they will have a lot of competition for the England international.
They are also keeping tabs of Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea as he may be seen as a target in the summer however several sides are also looking at him.
At the moment City manager Pep Guardiola currently doesn’t have too many central options with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan being viewed as the two first choice attacking midfielders so it is a slight issue that the latter still hasn’t signed a new deal with his current one running out at the end of this season.
His future looks set to be away from the club due to the fact he still hasn’t signed an extension and reportedly the German international has already been in talks with Barcelona who are interested in taking him on a free.
According to the report Gundogan has held talks with Barcelona manager Xavi and the initial conversations have been positive with the former Borussia Dortmund man happy to take a pay cut to join the club amidst their financial issues.
For the next few months though his full focus needs to be on City chasing a possible treble.
