Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has suggested that goalkeeper James Trafford will operate as Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper next season.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper impressed for Bolton in the second half of last season and has performed well so far this term after re-joining on loan.
Since joining Bolton on loan last campaign, the goalkeeper has made 54 appearances in total.

Trafford signed a long-term deal with the Blues last summer, and despite the youngster having not yet featured for City’s first-team, the Bolton boss believes that he will become Ederson’s back-up next season.
He admitted that he was unsure if they would have Trafford on loan again next campaign, but suggested that he wasn’t confident of the goalkeeper returning to the University of Bolton Stadium.
“It’s definitely on our agenda, myself and Chris (Markham) are already looking ahead to the next window – we always look one in advance – and we know in the goalkeeping department that we can’t guarantee we will get James again next season,” he said, as per Bolton News.
“We don’t know what division we are going to be in, number one, but we also don’t know what Manchester City’s plans are, although I understand that next season James will be number two at Manchester City, so we have plans in place to recruit and sign a new goalkeeper in the next window.”
Trafford, who signed a new five-year deal in 2022, joined the Blues in 2015 at the age of 12.
