Liverpool are very close to completing the signing of Alexis Mac Allister.
The 24-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has been on the radar of the Merseyside club for a while now.
Mac Allister took the world by storm during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
He was amongst the best players for the Argentine team that went on to create history and win the global event.
The 24-year-old has been in similar form throughout the 2022-23 season for the Seagulls.
While his contract at Brighton runs until the summer of 2025, it was pretty much certain that he would leave the club in the upcoming window given the amount of interest in him.
The Seagulls were expected to let him leave if the right bid arrived and it seems Liverpool have won the race with an offer of €70 million.
The Merseyside club have struggled in the 2022-23 season because of an inconsistent midfield.
Liverpool are looking to push for multiple midfielders in the upcoming window.
They will look to sign both defensive-minded and attacking-minded midfielders.
Mac Allister is a versatile player who can feature in either of the roles.
Both clubs have agreed on a fee of around €70 million and the player’s contract is expected to run until the summer of 2028.
All the details are in place for the official announcement but before that Mac Allister’s agent, his father will arrive in England tomorrow to go over the last details before the contracts are signed.
