Liverpool have joined the race for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to bolster their midfield options this summer.
James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract in the summer and are expected to be moved on whilst the likes of skipper Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have failed to reach the heights of previous seasons.
England internationals Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount appear to be high up on the Anfield hierarchy’s list of targets as well as Matheus Nunes of Wolves.
According to the Daily Mail, however, the Reds have also joined the race for Palhinha who has impressed since his move from Sporting last summer for €20million.
The outlet claims that Fulham believe that they can keep the 27-year-old for at least one more season and are under no pressure to sell with four years left on his current contract but Liverpool are ‘the most serious suitor’.
That means as per the Mail, it could take a fee of around £60million to get the board at Craven Cottage to even start thinking about selling the Portugal international.
Palhinha has been brilliant for Marco Silva’s team and they do not look the same when he is not on the pitch as was proven on Sunday when they lost 3-0 to Arsenal at home.
With targets seemingly elsewhere however, the price tag quoted would more than likely rule Liverpool out of making a move with a stay at Craven Cottage looking most likely.
