Julian Alvarez has been offered a new contract by Manchester City but is unsure if he will get the playing time he wants at the Etihad Stadium.
Alavrez has had to play second fiddle to Erling Haaland for the majority of the 2022/23 season, despite Alvarez’s impressive performance both for Argentina at the FIFA World Cup and with City when given a chance to play at club level.
To date, Alvarez has made just six Premier League starts since his summer move from River Plate, but has still managed five goals in his 707 minutes of league football in City colours.
Despite the lack of game time, The 23-year-old has impressed so much that , City have offered him a new five-year deal with a significanlty improved financial package.
However, sources have confirmed that Alvarez, is unhappy with his current game time and does not envisage himself getting more minutes in the immediate future.
They do, however, want him to be happy which has influenced the decision to offer a new contract when his existing deal runs until 2027.
Alvarez will be hoping to get a second FA Cup start of the season in City’s fifth round clash with Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday evening.
