The 27-year-old is out of today’s Scottish Cup match against Morton, and Ange Postecoglou announced the move before the game. Union Berlin are said to have accepted a proposal of roughly £10 million for the Croatia international who played in last year’s World Cup.
Signed in 2021 from Legia Warsaw, he has six goals in 53 appearances and helped the team win the Premiership and League Cup last season.
Speaking to BBC Scotland before of the Scottish Cup match, Postecoglou said, “For us, he’ll always be remembered warmly as a player who contributed to a wonderful year.”
Celtic responded quickly to bring in reinforcements, signing Alistair Johnston in December, who also played for Canada in the World Cup.
