Real Madrid are ‘best positioned’ to land Manchester City striker Erling Haaland if he chooses to leave the Eithad Stadium, according to reports.
One of those players is Haaland, who has scored 25 Premier League goals in 21 appearances this term, with rumours the Norway international isn’t going to stick around if City are sanctioned.
There have been doubts raised recently that Man City and Haaland are getting the best out of each other this season with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher insisting the 22-year-old “may have actually picked the wrong club”.
And now Spanish publication Fichajes insists that Haaland ‘chooses his next destination’ after the news about the charges against Man City and ‘is still in the sights of several big teams in Europe’.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is particularly keen on Haaland and the Spanish club could now sign the Norwegian way before they thought they’d have a chance.
Haaland reportedly has a ‘release clause to leave the club in the summer of 2024’ and the former Borussia Dortmund striker believes that “would be the right time” to leave Man City and follow his ‘dream’ to play in Spain.
And the report adds that ‘the possible sanction’ on Man City could speed up his departure ‘ahead of time’ with Haaland looking to win as many trophies as possible.
With some suggesting Man City are a worse team with Haaland in the side, former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has noticed some tactical changes at City now that the Norway international is in the side.
“He makes Manchester City a different team.
