Manchester City has been working on renewing Erling Haaland’s contract for some time to ensure his continuity at the Etihad Stadium and thus avoid his possible departure to Real Madrid, with the English club putting pressure on the talented Norwegian forward’s entourage to hold meetings in the coming months with the aim of extending his contract for one more year than what he currently has.
On the one hand, Manchester City is looking to keep Haaland away from Real Madrid, at least for the next season. They fear that the signing of Kylian Mbappé for the white team will not materialize and that the Spanish club will show renewed interest in the Norwegian forward for 2024/2025, hence the urgency to try to expand their contractual relationship with the citizen team.

On the other hand, it is expected that this new contract will significantly increase Haaland‘s salary and a clause would be included that would allow his departure in the future if he so wishes, thus leaving everything in the hands of the Norwegian striker, who will have to decide whether to continue at the Etihad Stadium or heading to the Santiago Bernabéu to become the star of the present and future of the merengue club.
