Barcelona wanted to sell Frenkie De Jong last summer due to their financial situation, but their stance a year on is completely different.
The Dutch midfielder is seen as a key cog in the Barcelona midfield and is one of the key reasons the team sit atop the La Liga table this season.
Chelsea are still interested in the midfielder, but a deal will be difficult this summer.
According to Roger Torello, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong is not interested in leaving the club this summer amid interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea would love to bring De Jong into the club this summer but the only way it will happen is if Barcelona change their stance on De Jong and force him to leave the club like last summer.
De Jong can see himself staying at Barcelona for a number of years and despite interest from his former manager Erik Ten Hag, he is not interested in a move to the Premier League.
Chelsea may still try and make enquires to Barcelona and De Jong as the transfer window draws closer, but it’s extremely unlikely they will get any encouragement from either party.
The Blue’s have other midfield targets, and they will turn to them instead of De Jong.
There is a list made internally at the club, and players like Declan Rice, Manu Kone and Jude Bellingham are some of the main targets on that list.
Chelsea will definitely sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window.
