But the Catalans are set to part ways with the Dutchman, losing an attacking asset for a mere fee of €3 million six months before his contract runs down.
According to reports from Gerard Romero, there is a silver lining to the deal that could help the Catalans recoup their loss.
The journalist states that Barcelona have the option to purchase Atletico Madrid forward Yannick Carrasco in the summer for just €15 million as part of the Depay deal.
Given that both Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele prefer to play on the right wing, Carrasco could be the missing piece that completed Barcelona’s attack come next season.

Romero further adds that Xavi has already spoken to people in Carrasco’s close circle and admitted to them that he was crazy about signing the winger.
The Blaugrana pushed to sign him this month as part of the Depay deal but could not convince Atletico to go ahead with the deal.
However, having continued to negotiate a summer move, it seems like Barça have now secured the option to sign him for €15 million.
All signs point to the fact that the Catalans will pursue his signature come June, especially given their financial situation.
